Mrs. Johnnie Marie King DuBerry, 96, passed away June 22, 2025, at Wellington Manor in Jackson. Funeral services were 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Mark Blackwelder officiating. Burial followed at Chester County Memory Gardens. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. service time.
She was born Nov. 10, 1928, in Silerton, the daughter of the late Robert King and Maggie Hinkle King. She attended Silerton Junior High School.
She married George Omer DuBerry on Nov. 16, 1946, and they made their home in the Finger community. She was a stay-at-home mom who loved to cook and loved taking care of her five children.
She was a member of the Estes Church of Christ in Henderson, and during her lifetime, she taught Sunday school classes and helped her husband take care of church activities.
She is survived by her children, Bonita Gordon, Marilyn (Jimmy) Cagle, George (Beverly) DuBerry, Jr., Karen Frances (Rod) Sanders and Lydia (Johnny) Atkins; eight grandchildren, David (Tammy) Russell, the late Michelle Russell, Jenny Ashley (Marty) Bean, Cathy Owens, Caleb DuBerry, Andrea (Mike) Melvin, Isem (Lisa) Perdue, Jason Atkins and Joseph (Kristina) Atkins; one step-grandchild, Hunter Shepherd; 16 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Glen (Helen) King; and one sister, Bessie King (Leonard) Harris.
