Marlene Virginia Moore Wilkins, 87, of Henderson passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Sam Gilbreath officiating. Burial followed at Chester County Memory Gardens. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from noon until 3 p.m. service time Wednesday.
She was born on March 19, 1939, in McNairy County at Finger and grew up in Selmer, the daughter of the late Marlie B. and Ollie Mable Massengill Moore. She graduated from Selmer High School in 1957 and married Virgil Wilkins in 1959.
They made their home in Memphis where she worked at Personal Loan and Finance, Equifax and Memphis City Schools as a secretary, retiring in 2000. After retirement, they moved their lives to Henderson, making it their home.
She loved her family and having them all together; she also loved her church family as First Baptist in Henderson. She enjoyed quilting and was involved with “The Stitchers,” a quilting group at her church.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff (Dana) Wilkins of Decaturville and Greg Wilkins of Memphis; two grandchildren, Jacob (Jenni) Wilkins and Marley (Roman) Wilkins; and two great-grandchildren, Ella Rose and Danni Rae.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Ray Wilkins in 2020, and two brothers, Malcom and Ward Moore.
