Timely hitting helped the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions defeat the (RV) Campbellsville University Tigers twice on Friday. After an 11-4 victory in the first game, Grayson Mayo’s two-run homer gave FHU the walk off victory.
The Freed-Hardeman (16-13, 10-6 MSC) hitters were locked in from the start by smacking 18 hits in the opening game. FHU scored runs in five of the six innings they approached the plate. Brinley Cousar hit an RBI single in the first inning before Myleah Hardy teed off on her season’s ninth long ball with a two-run homer in the fourth to make it a 5-2 game.
Campbellsville (23-12, 7-6 MSC) added two more runs in the top of the fifth, but it was the FHU sixth that put the game away with FHU scoring four runs off of five hits to set the score at 11-4.
Karli Quillin was a perfect 5-5 from the dish while Brinley Cousar followed with three base hits. Chloe Carter, Myleah Hardy and Lana Rowland each had two hits with Hardy’s three runs leading the run production.
Kylee Brown (11-9) got the complete-game victory where she struck out five batters.
