Memories in the Makin’: FHU students shine in Makin’ Music 49

Posted

Freed-Hardeman University’s campus came alive April 10-11 as its largest annual musical event drew hundreds of visitors to Henderson for Makin’ Music 49: Memories in the Makin’.
Dedicated to outgoing President David R. Shannon, the long-standing production showcased the talents of student hosts and hostesses, emcees, the Makin’ Music Showband and hundreds of additional student performers.
Five campus social clubs premiered original shows featuring stories of Greeks and Trojans, scarecrows and crows, Scottish clans, fairies and lumberjacks, and even a wedding gone wrong. Each performance combined entertaining characters, vibrant costumes, catchy music and dynamic choreography.
Phi Kappa Alpha’s show, “For Glory, for Greece,” earned a clean sweep of all judging categories, securing first-place sweepstakes honors along with the Kids’ Choice Award, voted on by local school children. Omega Chi’s “The Last Straw” placed second, while Xi Chi Delta’s “Clash of Clans” earned third overall. Sigma Rho was also recognized with the Spirit of Makin’ Music Award.
Plans are already underway for next year’s milestone 50th anniversary show, which will welcome back performers from years past and feature additional surprises for Makin’ Music fans.
