New Friendship and Mifflin News

Posted

Hello to all from this little corner of the world. Sunday was partly cloudy. Earlier, the wind was blowing hard, and it became dark and started to lightning and rain. This seems to be the weather pattern we have been in for a while.
God bless the farmers and those that work outside, hoping to get a full day’s work in. It sure affects the paycheck, and everything is still going up in price. Thank goodness for a three month reprieve on the grocery tax, especially since gas has gone way up. The last we paid in Jackson was $3.42 a gallon. We just have to hang in there and believe that better days are ahead.
We had a Bro. Iran Smith fill in for Bro. Glenn Sunday morning, as he is sick. I hope you feel better soon! The sermon was very good. The topic was Compromise. Sometimes, we do have to compromise in life and do not like it, and sometimes it can not be helped. The subject was taken from Exodus 7 and 8. God sent many plagues to Egypt due to Pharaoh not wanting to let Moses lead his people out of Egypt. Pharaoh wanted the children and women to stay, but God would not allow it. Finally, it was allowed by Pharaoh, and the people and Moses were allowed to travel and went to Goshen and were protected from the plagues.
The descendants of John Andrew Davis will have their reunion at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27 with potluck being at noon at New Friendship Community Center.

“PRAYER FOR OTHERS: Father, I stand before You in prayer today, not for myself but for anyone who needs You right now. Father, whatever it is that someone is going through today, please help them and take away their burden. If there’s someone who is weak, I pray for strength for them. If there’s someone who is sick, I pray for Your divine healing for them. If someone is anxious, please calm their mind. Please provide comfort to the brokenhearted and be their reminder that You are with them. Help them to hold onto their faith in You. Fill their hearts with Your peace and gladness in Jesus name. Amen.” – The Graceful Chapter
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
