Hello to all from this little corner of the world. I am writing this a little later than usual. This has been a wonderful day even with aggravations and boo-boos thrown in. I just have to focus and remember nothing lasts forever, it is what it is and this too shall pass. We need to reinforce this as needed every day, but this month seems to be a little more hectic and demanding. Take life one day at a time. If we wake up, that is a blessing, and if I do not, then I am a winner either way. Our birds are happy. A friend visited overnight, and James did the boo-boo and backed into her car. It was not really bad but still something to deal with. Take a deep breath and breathe in and out. Life is a wonderful journey even with the hills and valleys.
We were blessed with a 50th anniversary celebration! Thanks so much to Misti Hopper Ellis and my sister Kathy Pounds for hosting this wonderful gift! It was truly an act of love. Everything was wonderful. It was held at our fellowship hall at Friendship Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 3. There was a lovely banner of black and gold with the 50th anniversary on it for pictures. The cake was very pretty. There were two type sandwiches, veggie and fruit trays, a very pretty punch, nuts, red and green M&M’s, and mints with the 50th on the wrapper. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and visited with others there. We were and are very grateful for those that attended and their thoughtfulness. I can not remember when I was so happy and pleased with EVERYTHING! I said I felt like I was in a Hallmark movie. It was that great for me! Later there was music playing, and our favorite song is “United We Stand.” We have had a lot of ups and downs, but it has been us together all the way. God has been so good to us and gave us each other. And the saying from 1 Corinthians 13:13 in part: “And the greatest of these is LOVE.”
My friend from Southaven, Miss., came to the celebration, and we went into town to pick up some food. She was so impressed by our little town; she videoed it. She said her town was nothing like ours. She enjoyed Freed-Hardeman and it being lit up. She also liked the Christmas decorations and lights all down Main Street. Sometimes people do not appreciate what they do have, and someone from away sees what others do not. Downtown is very pretty and thanks to all who have a part in the decorating.
Condolences to those who have lost loved ones. Also, prayers for all the sick and suffering. There is so much illness going around. Please practice social distance, wash hands, use hand gel, sneeze/cough into your elbow and do not share drinks. Strep throat, RSV, upper respiratory and COVID are very much alive and waiting.
Happy birthday to Kirk Bray, 12-3; John Miller, 12-5; Damon Newmon, 12-6; Sarah Miller, 12-8; and Rae Roach, 12-9.
