Hello to all from this little corner of the world. Sunday was a beautiful, sunny day with white clouds and grayish-white clouds sprinkled in. The temperature was 85 degrees. It seems our hummingbirds have flown away on their journey.
Rain arrived on Monday and is supposed to continue on Tuesday as well. The temperatures should drop into the 70’s until around Saturday, Oct. 11, and continue mostly in the low 80’s through Oct. 18. No more rain is expected. It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of the year.
Our schools will have parent-teacher conferences from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 with Fall Break Oct. 13- 17 with an extra day off on Oct. 20 for a staff meeting. I hope everyone enjoys their time off. I used to follow my boys’ grades throughout each year and spoke with teachers. I liked school and encouraged our sons to study and make good grades. I did not push for A’s, but did expect them to do their best, and I knew what that was. Lower grades meant more study time to bring them up.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones. There is never a good or better time to lose anyone. We can never truly be prepared for the loss we feel regardless of why. The loss is forever. Sometimes, we feel so lost and alone. We think no one cares, but God does and always will. I am sure there are people you do not know that pray for you. I have been there when the hurt is unspeakable. Time and knowing others care will be much needed. Do not rush grief. It will come and go like waves in the ocean, but God will sustain you through the battles of life. Talk to Him. He made you, loves you and never leaves. If you do not hear from Him, maybe you are not listening. God bless!
Happy birthday to Chloe Williams, 10-8; Ashleigh Barham and Carra Straut, 10-9; and Stephanie Hatch, 10-10.

Pecan Cream Pie: you will need one nine-inch pie crust (unbaked), one cup heavy whipping cream, 1/3 cup powdered sugar, two (eight ounce) packages cream cheese (softened), 1/2 cup light brown sugar, 1/4 cup pure maple syrup, 1 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Bake the crust and let it cool completely. In a small bowl, beat the powdered sugar and whipping cream with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. In a separate large bowl, beat the cream cheese, brown sugar, salt and maple syrup until smooth and creamy. Fold the whipped cream mixture into the cream cheese mixture until combined. Gently stir in one cup of pecans. Spread into cooled pie crust and top with remaining pecans. Chill until firm (at least two hours up to overnight). Enjoy!
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
