New Friendship & Mifflin Community News

Hello to all from this little corner of the world. It was 55 degrees on Sunday and partly cloudy. The forecast is swinging from the 70s daytime to the occasional 50s. Our forsythia is beginning to bloom. Our tulip tree is beautiful, as are our Bradford pears, although they will be short-lived and then have green leaves. It was a little nippy Sunday for me at 55 degrees.
A few people have already mowed their yard. James says he plans to get our mower ready this week. Wow, we had a patch of rough winter, and now we have spring and an early Easter. Our well finally went kaput. Watkins Well Service was able to get us up and going the next day. Thanks go out to them and our son Jeremy for knowing so many people and recommending them.
We now have a Blessing Box in front of our church at Friendship thanks to George and Beth Jordan. George is very handy with those tools. It is very nice. We plan to have food and possibly other personal needs if anyone wants to check it out. It is there for whomever needs it at no charge of course. We heard a very good sermon Sunday morning by Bro. Sonny Pierce.
The Chester County schools will be out March 20 for staff development, and spring break will be March 23-27. I know everyone is looking forward to it, and I hope the weather will be beautiful.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones. Prayers for God’s comfort and peace of mind.
Happy birthday to Andrew Acred and Becky Dorris, 3-11; Morgan Fisher Roach and Kathy Seals, 3-12; David King, 3-13; and Pam Priddy and Talia Hinson, 3-14.
Prayer requests for Bobby Bray, Rachel Ellington, Ann Englis, Carolyn Goff, Darren Hatch, Danny Hodges, Pat and Don Jones, Brent Lambert, Julia Parchman, TW Phillips, Pam Priddy, Jimmy Redden, Dwayne Robinson, Neil Smith, Milt Tobey and Natalie Wray. Also, remember our first responders, military, firefighters and law enforcement office.
“I urge you to get up every day and focus on what you have in life. Be thankful for the countless little blessings throughout your day, the things that go right, the beautiful things, the things that make you smile. The more we focus on the blessings we have, we are soon amazed by how much we had been taking for granted.”
“In a culture that celebrates indulgence and calls it freedom, self-control becomes a quiet testimony. It reveals that true liberty is not the power to do whatever we want, but the grace to do what is good. Where the Spirit dwells, that ordered freedom slowly takes shape, forming lives marked not by excess, but by wisdom, steadiness, and restraint.” – Reformed/Rooted
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
