New Friendship & Mifflin Community News

Hello to all from this little corner of the world. The skies were gray, and there was a gentle rain as I wrote this Saturday. We were very fortunate to only get rain from the hurricane that hit Florida and the east coast. The news reported four deaths Saturday morning – two in Florida and two in Alabama – and over 700,000 without power. Some deaths were from fallen trees, and a man was also killed by fumes of a generator that was not properly ventilated. Other members of his household were hospitalized. I did see videos and pictures from the aftermath, and it will be several days to weeks before cleanup is completed and power is restored. One lady was concerned about water for her animals if they lost power. They prepared as best they could. There is also some high tide activity on the west coast which was reported as unusual to have activity on both coasts.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones.
Monday was Columbus Day. Banks were closed, mail did not run and Chester County Schools began Fall break. I hope everyone enjoys their time off and finds some time for fun and relaxation. I also hope the time off enables those who have been sick to get well and hopefully stay well.

“Crossings” by Lee Webber: “I came to the swift, raging river, And the roar held the echo of fear; ‘Oh, Lord, give me wings to fly over, If You are, as You promised, quite near.’ But He said, ‘Trust the grace I am giving, All-pervasive. sufficient for you. Take My Hand - we will face this together; But My plan is - not over, but through.’”
I pray all of you will have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those that have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
