New Friendship & Mifflin Community News

Posted

Hello to all from this little corner of the world. The temperature Sunday was 84 degrees, and it was partly cloudy. We had a very nice rain last week, but it looks as if the outlook for rain in the next 10 days was Sunday night and Monday morning. Of course, by the time you get this, you will know if we could depend on the forecast.
The temperatures are mostly in the mid 80s and becoming slightly cooler in the nights and early mornings. I have seen lots of hay bales but am watching cotton and soybeans linger. I just wonder how these farmers know when to harvest. I hope everyone has a great harvest this year. It is hard work, and you work by God’s timetable. I hope the rain we had recently blessed everyone. It will be interesting to see what winter brings.
I hope everyone enjoyed the BBQ festival this weekend. There were some new vendors and something for most everyone to enjoy.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones.
Bro. Fred Morris was at Friendship Sunday morning. He continues to enjoy spreading the word of Christ and talking to others. He is a very knowledgeable man with a good sense of humor. Friendship was his first church to preach for. The topic of his sermon was 2 Chronicles 7:14. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land.” We invite you to visit anytime, and our hope is that you will go away feeling closer to God after leaving. God bless.
New Friendship Community Club is selling tickets for a pork chop dinner. The BBQ Pork Chop Plate by Dwain Seaton includes baked beans and potato salad. Each ticket is $10 and benefits the community club. The dinner can be picked up from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Oct. 13. Pickup behind First Methodist Church. Our members are dwindling, and it was a schoolhouse many went to years ago. They are trying to keep it open and used. Your help would be greatly appreciated, and you would get a delicious meal to boot. Tickets can be purchased by calling Brenda Seaton at 343-1935. If there is no answer, please leave a message. Thanks in advance.

“Go into this week with the attitude that your peace, your health of mind and your heart mean more than getting everything done. That your smile matters. That feeling rested matters. That holding the hands of your loved ones matters. So pause lots, function at a pace that doesn’t pull you apart. Honour the things that make you feel good inside, the things that make you feel alive. Give time to those things this week. Make time the gift it is, by giving it to what really matters to you.” - S.C. Lourie
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
