New Friendship & Mifflin Community News

Posted

Hello to all from this little corner of the world. It was cloudy, and the temperature was 54 degrees at the time of this writing. The high was supposed to be 82 degrees Monday and is forecast to be in the low to mid 80s all week. The lows should be in the mid 50s to mid 60s. I was watching a cardinal and a black hat chickadee as I wrote this. Leaves are steadily changing colors. People are mowing one more time. Cotton is being harvested by some. Enjoy the week; each day is a blessing.
This time next week, children will be preparing for Halloween, and on Nov. 5, Daylight Savings time will end for most of us. Arizona, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, The Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands do not observe DST. I, for one, hope Tennessee eventually gets to one time observed. Until then, we carry on. I hope everyone will be as safe as possible on Halloween night.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones. Please continue to pray for Israel and all those affected.
Friendship Baptist Church’s sermons are available on Facebook. There are many sick and elderly who can not make it to church, and having the sermons online is a blessing. I have enjoyed it at times myself. I hope you will take advantage of this. Jimmy Azbill sang our special Sunday. We invite you to visit anytime, and our hope is that you will go away feeling closer to God after leaving. God bless.
Happy birthday to Ty Dyer, 10-22; J.T. Butler, 10-24; and Jacob Barham, 10-27.
Happy anniversary to Dana and Jamie Berry, 10-23.
Jacks Creek is having its yearly stew on Oct. 28 to benefit the fire department. The stew will be ready at 10 a.m. and will be $22 a gallon. You will need your own container. You may also pre-order by calling Joy McKinnon at 608-2828. This will be yummy when the cold winter sets in.
Please continue to remember these in prayer – Chelsey Baker, Tim Barham, Wesley Bates, Paula Berry, Marie Bishop, Robert Brewer, Rodney Butler, Jackie Chambers, Rickey Clayton, Jerry Cloud, Boyd Cupples, Vicki Dickson, James Ellis, Joie Freeman, Joey Harris, Jennifer Gateley, LaDawn Hayes, Johnny Hays, Danny Hodges, Donna Johnson, Shirley Kendrick, Sue Lewis, Doris McKinney, Martha Mainord, Deana Morris, Tom and Cissy Nichols, LaVelle Page, Julia Parchman, Betty Perry, Beth Plunk, Trudy Powers, Pam Priddy, Karon Reinmann, Aaron Rees, Cathy Sisson, Jacob Thomas, Kevin Thurman, Lee Trice, David Tucker, Tony Tucker, John Webb, Adam Wise and Katherine Wyatt.

“Heavenly Father, Your amazing grace is seamless tapestry stitched with the threads of tenderness and mercy, that shower us and our loved ones with undeserved favor and blessings. Thank You for Your unyielding loyalty and affection. We give You all our praise!”
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
