It is a great day to be an Eagle! There are always so many wonderful things happening at East Chester! Let us take a look at what is happening in each grade!
In kindergarten they will begin a unit on r-controlled vowels: ar, er, ir, or, ur. They will focus on the numbers 16 and 17 and continue decomposing them.
We will study about presidents, specifically Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. They will continue working on how to write a sentence correctly. Keep up the hard work!
In first grade, they are learning about Fairy Tales. So far they have read “Sleeping Beauty,” “Rumpelstiltskin” and “Rapunzel.” They are going to be telling how they are alike and how they are different. In writing they are working on informative writing. In reading they are going to be starting a book called “The Green Fern Zoo.” I wonder what animals they will see in this book? In math they have started a unit on graphing! How fun! Keep it up!
In second grade they are going to continue adding three two-digit numbers and four two-digit numbers. They will start doing this without regrouping and regrouping. They will be reviewing plural nouns, proper nouns and parts of sentences. They will also be reading texts and answering questions using complete sentences. Wonderful job!
In third grade they will read the text, “Reptiles.” They are working on comparing two texts and learning how to use adjectives when doing so. In math they are learning to connect area to multiplication and addition. They will be writing multiplication and division stories, applying the distributive property and using non-standard units to find the area. Nice work!
