It was another incredible week here at Jacks Creek Elementary School! We are excited to share the fun things we have learned!
Kindergarten had another great week! Students enjoyed Valentine’s Day activities on Monday. We continued to work on sentence reading and writing, sight words, counting by ones and 10s, 3-D shapes and decomposing numbers. Students learned about Presidents and American symbols in social studies. Thank you to everyone who participated in our Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday.
Our first graders worked hard in reading, learning about r-controlled vowels. They also learned about the different layers of our Earth. They now know that the layer they walk and live on is called the crust. They learned that the next layer is 1,500 miles thick and is called the mantle. Then, they learned that the next layer is the outer core, and then there is the inner core. They were amazed to learn that it is as hot in the very center core of our Earth as it is on the surface of the sun, which is 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
Our second graders had a great time celebrating Two’s Day on Feb. 22. We can not believe it is almost March. Soon we will be taking our last CASE assessment. We are so excited to show what we have learned this year on the test. Thanks to everyone who participated in Parent-Teacher Conferences.
In third grade we continued to learn more about Colonial America and how to colonize the new world. We will be writing a personal narrative as well. In math we learned more about fractions, more importantly, comparing fractions. Students will test over fractions next week. In science we learned about how magnets work and experiment!
Our Beekeeper of the Week goes to Parker Mills, who says his favorite books are Dr. Seuss books and his favorite food is breakfast. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school! Our Staff Beekeeper of the Week goes to Joyce Fenimore. Her favorite book is the Bible, and her favorite food is pizza! We appreciate all that she does for our school!
Labeling Items of Clothing: as temperature continues to fall, remember to label your child’s winter clothing items (jackets, coats, hats, etc.). We already have a few jackets hanging on our lost and found rack.
Box tops are a super easy way to earn money for our school. Clip box tops or download the box tops for education app. Scan your receipts to earn free money for our school! It is that easy!
Are You Connected? JCES uses the Remind App to communicate information to parents. If you have not joined or if you have changed phone numbers, please text @ccsdces to 81010.
PSO sponsored Domino’s Pizza Fundraiser continues through Friday, Feb. 28. This is a delicious and easy way to support our school. Please ask family, friends and neighbors to consider purchasing a pizza card….everyone loves pizza!
