Hello from Deanburg, the great little corner of Chester County! It has been very cold here, and we got some ice and a little snow last week! But our ‘Deanburgian’s’ got through. We are tough out here and enjoy a challenge. Ha! I stayed in the warm house!
Our birthdays this week are Carolyn Goff and Keith Escue on 2/9, Brady Wells and Leah Lemons on 2/12, Garret Romero on 2/14 and Terry Hopper on 2/15. I hope everyone will thank God for another year and for His blessings he has bestowed on you this past year, and I pray you all have a great year in 2022! My sweet grandsons and their better halves are taking me and Orban out to dinner for my birthday. It will be great to be with them. They stay so busy we do not see much of them. They are both expecting babies this year to make us Great-Grands!
Valentine’s Day is Feb. 14. I hope you guys will show your Valentine how much you love her by giving her a pretty bouquet of flowers or candy. It makes a heart feel good to give and to see their face light up in surprise and appreciation. Ladies, you can surprise your guy, too.
Who started Valentine’s Day?
“There are several stories as to who he is; a popular belief is that he was a priest from Rome in the third century. Valentine was believed to have broken the rules on banned marriages and arranged marriages instead. He was thrown in jail and sentenced to death. While in prison, he fell in love with the jailer’s daughter and when he was taken to be killed was on February 14 it was believed he sent her a letter ‘from your Valentine.’ That is another theory on how the day got its name and how letters were written from that time. From that day on St. Valentine’s name was used by people to express their feelings of love for one another.
This day, February 14 is here to stay. A day of love, friendship, and peace. It’s also a day where many people take a chance and express how they feel. Some remain anonymous and others make the people they love as if they’re the center of the world. Whatever the case may be, Valentine’s day is a day that might’ve had some dark origins but from that became a positive day that is celebrated with love. One that might be taken lightly by some and others take it to heart. Regardless of where we may fall on that spectrum, we can all agree that it is turned into something very beautiful, anything that is given with heart is worth remembering.” From American University of Health and Sciences - www.auhs.edu/articles/history-of-valentines-day
On our prayer list are Kristen Carlton Jones, Brianna Landers, Samantha Mosier, Joyce Stewart and Woodie Deming. I am happy to report that Kristen got a good report last week when she went to Nashville to her doctor. Continue to remember our first responders, our health care workers, our military and our great country. If you need to add or remove someone to our prayer list, call or text me at 879-9777.
I want to remind everyone to watch out for your neighbors this time of year especially the elderly. They might not have food or heat when the weather is bad and cold so check up on them.
Have a blessed week and keep smiling!
