Hello from Deanburg! I hope everyone had a great week.
My church, Bethel Baptist, participates in an annual Christian ladies retreat at Pickwick Hotel. We have not had one for the last two years because of COVID. This past Friday night and Saturday morning, we were back on schedule with wonderful speakers, singers and a lady by the name of Rita Sweat. She does such a fantastic drama of a different woman of the Bible every year. This year, it was Hagar from Genesis; when Sarah, Abraham’s wife, did not want to wait for God’s promise to give them a son, she went to the palace and found Hagar, a slave, to lay with her husband who was 85 years old, and she was 70. It was such a wonderful human story of a woman in her situation, a slave in the palace of Pharaoh. Rita’s interpretation was so good.
Prayers for Woodie Deming, Kirsten Jones and Joyce Stewart. Remember our law enforcement and first responders.
Happy birthday to Cecil Murley on March 5, and happy anniversary to Tony and Kimba Harris!
Our devotion: “Forgive” – “‘14 If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.’ (NLT) (Matthew 6:14-15)
“God sees us as friends. He is not a pushy master or distant deity. He wants to be in a relationship with you! Make Him a part of your day, praying and sharing your burdens with Him.” http://www.jctrois.com/dailybibledevotion/devotion.html?devo=oLiEqSqxqk
Quote: “If life were predictable it would cease to be life, and be without flavor.” - Eleanor Roosevelt. I read Eleanor’s biography, and it was great.
Take time this week to visit with an elderly friend. I know he/she will really appreciate it. God bless each of you this week. See you back here next week.
