Hello to my family and friends. It is a new week, a new day, and it is always a blessing to be with you! This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Well, the Super Bowl was Sunday. It has come and gone. I do not know if your team won or not. Monday was Valentine’s Day, a day that has been set aside for us to show how much you love someone. Now Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but the love that you have for all of the special people in our life should not be shown only on one day; it is an everyday action. The Bible reads in 1 Peter 4:8 – “And above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sin. This World would be a better place if we all showed more love toward one another.”
Do not forget about the Fifth Annual Black History Program from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Chester County Senior Center, 247 East Main St., Henderson. There is no cost to attend. The theme for this year is “Reviewing African American History in Chester County.” Masks will be required. Patrons will view displays about the history of African Americans in Chester County. Come one, Come all! The public is invited. Hope to see you there.
In last week’s paper, I read an article that Ms. Kathy Vest submitted about the Republican Primary Election that will be held in May. On Monday, Feb. 14, I and other concerned Community Citizens attended the Chester County Election Commission Meeting at 4 p.m. just to receive clarification and to understand more about the article. It was a very good meeting with Ms. Kathy and the members. The County Election Commission will be releasing more information about your rights to vote in the Republican Primary Election. This is the first time there has been a Primary Election from any Party. If you have any questions, please give Ms. Kathy Vest a call; she will be more than glad to help you (989-4039). Everyone has the right to vote in the May election.
We are still in Black History Month, and this week I would like to honor Mrs. Nina Ross. She taught in the school system for many years. She was my mother’s teacher and my teacher, and some of you may have had her as your teacher as well. She was my best friend’s (Gloria Ross) mother when we were just children. If Mrs. Nina Ross were alive today, she would have been 98 years young on Feb. 22. She was a wife, a mother, a friend to so many and an example of what a person should be. The City of Henderson thanks you, Mrs. Ross, for having a page of history in our lives.
Remember to love and pray for one other, our children, our teachers and our families, the sick and shut in, our men and women that are serving our country and also the incarcerated. Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 989-1907 and leave your message, or you may email me at gloria__holiday@msn.com.
I LOVE ALL OF YOU! YOU HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART! HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
