Hello to all everyone who is reading this paper. It is always a blessing to be part of your life. Why? Because you are my family and friends, and this is the day the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it! I hope and pray you had a great week. My household did. Can you believe the month of April is halfway gone? Where did the time go? As Bishop T. J. Jakes would say, “Get Ready, Get Ready!” Friday, April 15, is the big day for taxes; it will be a sad day for so many, especially for those who will have to give the IRS more of their money! But look on the bright side, the Lord has blessed you to have the funds to give, and if you do not, the Lord will make a way. To everyone that received the BIG checks from the IRS, please use it wisely and do not forget to put some back for a rainy day.
Have you ever asked the question, “What is so special or unique about our community?” Let me just share a few things with you. It is unique because it is home to so many unique people like you! I am constantly meeting people who are so nice. I have talked with parents who think the school system is one of the best, and there are some who think there is room for some improvement. We have a town that is it okay to agree to disagree; some of our town hall meetings have proven that. Our town is unique because we have a Senior Citizen Center where seniors can come and have a wonderful time and lots of fun.
The people of Henderson had a wonderful time at the big meat sale that Hays Cash Saver had last week. While I was shopping there, I ran into so many people that I have not seen in years. Ms. Bertha Mae Thomas was one of those people. I gave her a big hug! I could not believe she is 90 plus. So Cash Saver’s, you did more than just have a meat sale. The City of Henderson appreciates your being here in our community, and we thank you for all you have done to help the people. Just to let the people know - Easter is Sunday, and yes! I will be cooking the ham I purchased from Cash Saver!
On Easter Sunday attend a church of your choice. Easter is not about us coloring eggs and hiding them with chocolate bunnies in the yards so the children can search for these goodies. Let us remember the real reason; it is about the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The city would like to say Happy Birthday to Dimitric Carter Brown, 4/26, and Amy Alvis, 4/28. We pray the Lord will bless you with many more.
