Hello to my family and friends. It is a blessing to be with you one more day. For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! Live it as if it was your last day of your life. You know we say that. What would we do if we knew today was our last day to live? It is something to think about. That is why we must be kind and treat everyone with respect and love all mankind. The Bible reads in Mark 12:31, “And the second is like, namely this, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” There is no other commandment greater than these. We must love each other. To everyone that is reading this column and is not reading this column, I love YOU!
I was glad to have some warm weather and no rain. However, thank you, Lord, for whatever type of weather you allow to come our way.
Parents start planning now! March 27-31 is Spring Break for our children here in Chester County. It is always a great time for families to have any kind of break with their children. I miss those days. Time goes by fast; enjoy your children while you can. Make some plans for this Spring Break and remember that you do not have to spend lots of money to have fun. We went camping and fishing, rode bikes, played sports and had lots of family competition. We had a ball Time goes by fast; enjoy your children while you can. One day you will wake up in your 60s wondering where the time went. All your children will be grown. I am like Carol Burnett; for those who can remember her, at the end of her television show she would always sing, “I’m So Glad We Had This Time Together.” Like my grandmother Mrs. Zelma Bass always told us, “If a family prays and play together will stay together.” And I believed her!
Well, if I ask the question, “What was ‘Bloody Sunday’?” how many would know the answer? It has been 58 years since the six hundred marchers assembled in Selma, Ala., on Sunday, March 7, 1965 crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge over the Alabama River in route to Montgomery, but they were attacked by police. That violent episode became known as “Bloody Sunday.” So let us not forget those who paved the way for so many. Get out and exercise your foundational right to vote. I will be planning a trip there for next year. If you would like to attend, please contact me.
Our condolence goes out to Ms. Dionee Prather family. She was such a beautiful young lady. Whenever I saw her, she always had that beautiful smile on her face. To her children and family, our prayers are with you! This happy beautiful young lady will always be remembered and will be in our hearts.
Let me tell you about a happy place in Chester County. I paid them a visit one day last week, and I enjoyed the time I was there. Last week, they had coffee and games, and the Freed-Hardeman University students came to visit them. They played Bingo, sang Karaoke and did so much more! The place I am talking about is the Chester County Senior Center! Ms. Tonya, the director, is doing such a great job! The City of Henderson is recognizing her this week for Women’s History Month 2023! Ms. Tonya, keep up the great work!
The city of Henderson is wishing all of our friends and family a HAPPY BIRTHDAY: On March 6, Jennifer-Ann McAnally, the daughter of Debra McAnally, celebrated her birthday. The city wishes you a happy belated birthday. To a dear friend, Valorie Griggs, happy birthday on March 8. A very Happy Birthday to Jana Crump on March 9! On March 19, the Cool Springs Baptist Church Family wants to wish Bro. Carter Scales and Bro. James Welch a Happy Birthday! My sister Audria Brown Dunn celebrates on March 14. Happy birthday, little sister, from you family. We love you! Penny Gower’s birthday is March 15. Your family and friends wish you a happy birthday.
On the prayer list this week: the bereaved families, our friends our children, teachers, family and the men and women that are serving our country. Remember to tell someone you love them.
