Hello to the people of Chester County everywhere. It is good to be with you today! I am excited the Lord has allowed us to be together one more time. For this is the day the Lord has made, so why not just rejoice and be glad in it? Thank you for taking time out to read the Chester County Independent. No, it is not USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Newsday, The Washington Post, Star Tribune or The Jackson Sun just to name a few. Our small town paper is read by many around the world. Last week, I was reading the paper, and I saw the picture of a lovely lady by the name of Estelle Jones. Ms. Estelle turned 100 years young on April 18. WOW! What a blessing! Everyone has been invited to help celebrate her birthday on April 22 from 2-4 p.m. at the Chester County Senior Center, located at 247 E. Main Street. The family does not want you to bring gifts. The City of Henderson just wants to say, “We love you and hope to come and help you celebrated your 100th birthday!”

If you would like to work with young children, the Southwest Foster Grandparent Program is looking for seniors that want to make a difference in the life of a child. The requirements: age 55 and older, meet federal income guidelines, pass criminal background check, must be physically and mentally fit and must be willing to work with children in the elementary schools or Head Start.
