Are you watching the COVID-19 virus count rising? Chester County had 19 cases Monday. I would like to share some information from University North Carolina expert Professor Ralph Baric on COVID-19.
“‘You should be nervous about this upcoming winter, with COVID-19 surging across the U.S.,’ says Ralph Baric, a UNC-Chapel Hill professor who is one of the world’s preeminent researchers of coronaviruses. ‘We are looking at five months of extensive and rapid virus spread,’ Baric said in a phone interview. ‘The good news is there is a light at the end of tunnel.’ That light appears to be a new vaccine by Pfizer, which delivered promising results on its experimental vaccine this month. A number of other vaccines are being tested as well. But they won’t be ready for weeks or months and the weather is quickly getting colder, sending more Americans indoors to places where the virus may spread rapidly.” Professor Baric goes on to explain that we could see around 250,000 more deaths before a vaccine becomes available. He also stresses more than half of those deaths can be avoided if we wear masks, wash our hands and practice social distancing. Jacks Creek Dollar General, Piggly Wiggly and Cash Saver’s employers are mandating employees wear masks. Customers should wear masks to help themselves and others. If you need a mask the health department will give you one without you leaving the car. Who can’t wear a mask long enough to do their shopping? Don’t go in for a social visit, especially since some of the people wear mask with noses showing. This is bad. If I had a pet pig I’d have a mask made to cover his snout and mouth. It is simple …make a list, put on a mask correctly, gather groceries or items and go home. These social gatherings are only going to take more lives.
It is very depressing to not attend funerals of people we love, but the fact is …Life is for the living, but our memories will not die. Friends are precious, but they don’t want us to get sick in a crowd, where it would be possible someone has the virus and doesn’t know it. We can help the bereaved or sick people by simply calling and asking if they’d like a jar of chicken soup for the soul. Leave it at their door and knock with love and depart. They will feel your love. There is NO DISGRACE in catching COVID. The disgrace is NOT staying home in quarantine after you’ve been diagnosed. God bless.
We do what we have to do. Remember the quote “It is the survival of the fittest”? Pray each day for our country, leaders and Chester County residents to not get this virus and die. We are in scary times. We are in this together. We must ALL do our part. Don’t gamble with your life or family, friends, neighbors, strangers and all others you come in contact with now. Spread love not the virus.
