“Love is always with you – it comes from hearts both near and far.” – unknown
Our community expresses sympathy to five families – James Michael “Spoon” Spratlin (11-13-59 to 3-1-23) – Pleasant Hill; Yvonne Latham Jones (3-15-38 to 3-2-23) graduated 1957 from Chester County High School – New Friendship; David Stuart Morris (9-4-62 to 3-2-23) son of Glen Morris and Wanda Matlock Morris Dotson. They were very close friends to Jacks Creek residents in the 1970’s. Wanda and my grandmother, Beulah Holmes Nobles were “cooking buddies” and she and I were “corn buddies.” David’s wife is Nancy Owen, and his beloved siblings are Greg, Donald and Stacey – New Friendship Cemetery; Raymond William Hardin (12-8-33 to 3-3-23) married Jean Newsom; Jerry Wayne Davidson (2-12-41 to 3-4-2) was daddy of our late Sheriff Mark Davidson and his brother, Steve. He married Diane Hall in 1961 – Cave Springs
Prayers for Karen Connor; Clessie Stovall; Sherrill and Sheila Ryals; Prince Charles Malone; Randy Climer; and Doris Maness.
Doris fell March 3 but no broken bones. It did not keep her from enjoying a cold vanilla milkshake. I carried buttermilk pie. I was afraid Andy Maness was going to eat his tongue! It reminded him of going back in time to his mama’s cooking of egg custard pies. That will be the next treat I carry. They miss their Chester County friends and church family fiercely. If you desire to lift Doris’ spirit her address – Town Village, Doris Maness – Apartment 213, 950 Cherry Road, Memphis, TN 38117. Any reason we could not take a load of friends and surprise them for a couple of hours and eat together? Remember acts of kindness we are practicing. Do them often. God smiles.
Shopping at Piggly Wiggly a kindness happened to me. A stranger encouraged me to go in front of him with a smile. Then a young man sacking my groceries did such a good job. He carried my groceries to the car with a smile, gracious mannerism and was careful with eggs and milk. He sacked my cold foods in paper, so I could carry them in first to the refrigerator and get the others later when rested. His name is Daylon. Isn’t that a lovely name? His parents have instilled good work ethics in him at a young age. He has other brothers being raised with confidence, too – Landyn, Nolyn and Aldyn. Good mothers and daddies are priceless.
In memory of Charles Stovall (3-1-16); Billy Connor (3-10-12); Tommy Patterson (3-9-12); Al Nelson (3-9-09) was married to dear lady Shirley Nelson at healthcare. Three good people who were friends shared March 4 as their final sunset on earth — my daddy, Raford Nobles (3-4-11); my neighbor, Wilma Hart (3-4-13); and my childhood dentist, Marurice Batemen (3-4-16)…not forgotten.
Glad Dorothy Patterson’s dog is improving. TRU DOG on Google has a wonderful supplements for joint movement. We saw a difference in a week. Now our poodle (born 2006) can go up steps. Time to reorder.
Weather talk – March 3, 2023, strong wind broke a limb which stripped a fourth of our Bartlett Pear trunk Friday. The limb fell but barely missed our glass porch. Don and Jerry Newman started a clean-up the following day. Don finished raking, lifting and loading the following Monday. He rested on Sunday with Sammie, Muffin and Pere’. All in the same chair! Is that rest?
More weather talk – February 28, 2009, we had six to eight inches of pure white snow. Remember those big flakes? Sadly, Rocky Hopper did not arrive to carry me for a ride on the hood of an old car.
A Rocky Memory — Geralene Morris Thompson and I planned to show Rocky how we could ride. The only problem – I was keeping my eyes straight ahead encouraging Geralene to hold on no matter the bumps or speed. Just keep a tight grip was the secret! Geralene didn’t respond to my question. I looked to my right. She was not there! Quickly looking behind me I screamed her name. W-w-w-way back there all I could see was red and white, red and white going over and over spinning. Geralene was wearing a red toboggan with scarf. All I could see when the vehicle stopped were 32 pearly white teeth and red with snow framing her face. One of the great adventures of our lives! Larry, Joan and Angie Rhodes were there for support. I do not think I can try that hood ride again – well, only in my dreams! The chiropractor found a broken vertebrae and asked how it happened! How do you explain that? Snap, crackle and pop?
Geralene Thompson shares a birthday on March 8 with our beloved and missed Fentress Casey. I sent her a cat card. The cat was hiding in a paper bag. Open the card the words say “another year bagged! I thought that was suitable for “Mama Tom.” Brenda Hannah sent flowers. I told her to tell Geralene I sent well water from Jacks Creek! Those flowers will last and last.
Also, I forgot to mention Nancy Lofton’s Feb. 9 birthday. Taze Lofton has a birthday on May 9, and I have one on Aug. 9. I hope this could be an indication on our indicators that we have NINE LIVES! We do not look our age, do we?
No person gave an opinion on last week’s question – freeze time or travel in time? I will take travel in time as long as Don and furry family were with me. Call to share your answer. I will not use your name. It is fun to think. 989-7485
QUESTION —- How would you describe the last year of your life in ONE sentence???
