Hello to everyone! The sun was shining, the skies were a light blue and the wind was calm on Monday. This past weekend, as everyone knows, was a scorcher. The ‘feels like’ temperature was 103 at my last check Sunday. We were out and about a while Saturday, and that was enough. I enjoy summer but not the extreme heat and humidity. I know it is harder on those with breathing issues. Our birds are continuing to visit, but so are two-three squirrels. Now, I know they hide food away, and they can stay away from the feeders. Google says we should see the yellow goldfinches around July. I am really looking forward to that. We still have our beautiful yellow warbler with us. We also make sure they have fresh, cool water. Well, at least it starts out cool.
This week, the temperatures are supposed to be in the 80s with no rain in the forecast until next Monday and at this writing it is 40 percent. As always, in Tennessee we know to try and just take it a day at a time as the weather changes sometimes from morning until night.
Father’s Day will be Sunday, June 20. I hope everyone remembers their father on his day. I do not have mine anymore, and I miss him. He passed away in 2006. I know children can look back and see things that we think should have been different, but there is no perfect parent and children do not come with instructions. We all live and learn along the way. There are fathers playing dual roles as well as moms. It is hard work, and sometimes, we can feel like we are forgotten, and I feel like as we age we think of things we could have done differently but focus on the now. Talk to your children, inquire how life is going, be there as always for them, love them and HUG them! We only have this one short span of time called life, and we can leave it with good memories for all. Remember Proverbs 22:6 - “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
Happy birthday to Marie Bishop, 6-14; Marla Newman, 6-16; and Lisa Bray, 6-17.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Denise Armstrong, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. Butler, Jackie Chambers, Walter Cooper, Wood Deming, Rachel Ellington, Nancy McCaskill, LaVelle Page, Beth Plunk, Pam Priddy, James Pugh, Donald Rowlett, Randy Sells, Dalton Seratt, Missy Seratt, David Tucker, Tony Tucker, John Webb and Jo Willis. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
