Hello to all! The skies were a beautiful blue on Saturday with temperatures at 65 degrees, and there was a slight breeze noted. It was a wonderful fall day.
We have taken down our hummingbird feeders. Our flowers in pots are very happy and were waving Saturday morning. I have seen a few birds, and, thankfully, our two bluebirds have returned and are going back to the nesting house they used last year. James has cleaned the birdhouses out. The forecast ahead looks great to me. Daily temperatures should be in the 70s, and we will work on our bushes and things outside. I am not sure, but I think we have mowed for the last time this year. James picked more muscadines. They were delicious. Enjoy this time of year.
We enjoyed a visit from Braxton, Braelyn and Laiken Thursday night. She is a total delight! She is so happy with a beautiful smile and squeals. She has begun walking, and those precious steps are the cutest. She is soooo proud of herself! We are, too! She will be one on 10-21. Braelyn is doing a great job with her, and Braxton has shot up overnight it seems. It feels like he is a head taller than I am. Blessings abound.
Jacks Creek Fire Dept on Hwy 100 E will be having their annual stew sale on Saturday, Oct. 30. It will be ready between 10:30-11 a.m.
I am glad that Halloween treats will be given out at Gene Record Park from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30. There are several groups and churches participating. I think it is a safe alternative considering COVID and other issues. I hope everyone has enjoyed their fall break from school. I know some are glad to be able to do “real” school this year. It will not be long until Thanksgiving break.
Condolences go out to the family of Jerry Cook and all those who have lost loved ones. We are never ready to let anyone go. The COVID numbers have decreased some, but everyone should at least remain cautious. Do not forget your FLU shot!
Happy birthday to Larry Bray, 10-17; Kase King and Kathey Dyer, 10-20; and Ty Dyer, 10-22.
Happy anniversary to Dana and Jamie Berry, 10-23.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Randy Baker, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. and Jeanette Butler, Jackie Chambers, Kase King, Maryann Lackie, Jason Livingston, Nancy McCaskill, Sarah McLemore, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Todd Rencher, Randy Sells, Jeff Thomas, David Tucker, Tony Tucker, Jerry Weir and Adam Wise. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day
“JUDGEMENT” by Diane Ranker Riesen - “As I sat in softened silence…I heard God in my soul/He made me understand something I really need to know/So many times I’ve judged someone, and often, very strong/but, God wanted to remind me that this judgments very wrong/The way God made my heart feel…just brought me to my knees/I could feel the hurt and sorrow from the people I had teased/The ache was so intolerable - that I began to cry/God wanted me to see my faults; and then He told me why/It’s not your place to judge the acts of people here on earth/It’s not your right to place a price on what their lives are worth/My child, you do it often - and you just don’t realize/I need you so to understand - I need you to know why/There is no one but, I, alone…who knows somebody’s thoughts/Prejudice is everywhere - and much of it was taught/But, only I can see a soul - and judge what they may do/for, just like them and all who live…YOU are a sinner, too/I ask of you compassion, and a heart of empathy/for only I can judge someone… that job is just for ME/Slander is so bitter - and I’m asking for your love/abide in peace with everyone…and, give to ME above/I’ve always known my children would daily carry ‘sin’/It’s a strong and mighty battle that none of you will win/Show love and mercy always, and be silent of the rest/I, alone, will be the judge - you just spread happiness/I felt such peace I’d never known…just knowing I am free/no one’s life is mine to judge - and I can just be ‘me’/I’m just the same as everyone, and I will always sin/so, I am free of judging…I can leave it up to ‘HIM’!!!”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
