Hello to all! I hope you have all had a good week. Today is Sunday 3-13, and it is 47 degrees. The skies are blue, and there is a slight breeze blowing. We have a lot of birds visiting, particularly yellow finches and chickadees. We did have a pretty little squirrel actually come for a visit on our deck a couple of times. Pepper, our furbaby, knew it before I did, and the little squirrel fled quickly although he did return shortly. James is keeping an eye out for them but will not kill them. I do not want him to; eventually, it will learn.
Well, how did everyone like the snow? It was very pretty and is leaving today. I enjoy snow, but I am ready for Spring. I did enjoy a few buttercups. We got almost five inches at our house. Our dog Pepper had a problem going to the bathroom. He stands about eight-10 inches tall, so needless to say, the snow was in his way. He went out to potty and had a shock when he squatted and that cold made him jump up in fright. James cleared him out a path, and all was well from then on.
Melba Seaton and Billy Joe enjoyed a visit from Rita Frix and Sheila this past week. Ms. Melba really enjoys visits from her nieces and nephews.
I had a sweet surprise this week; some friends had an extra ticket to attend the Twitty & Lynn concert at Williams Auditorium. That was a real treat! The entertainment was very good, and it appeared to be an almost sold out crowd. I am very glad Shane Connor works on getting these things for our town, and we have the use of the auditorium. I was told they are working on getting handrails for the entrance to the auditorium. I appreciate the opportunity to attend these things in our town.
The high school seniors are selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts and peanuts with a coupon toward an appetizer at Texas Roadhouse. Please contact one if you are interested. There may be other things, but I do know these are being offered,
Spring break is approaching. Schools will be out March 20-27.
Happy birthday to Pam Priddy, 3-14; Bryce Pritchard, 3-16; Tanya Butler, 3-18; and John Webb, 3-18.
Happy anniversary to Debbie and Bruce Morris and Barry and Jennifer Williams, 3-16.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Randy Baker, Sheila Berry, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. and Jeanette Butler, John Butler, Jackie Chambers, Maryann Lackie, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Todd Rencher, Jake Richardson, Gina Robinson, Kristi Taylor, David Tucker, Tony Tucker and Adam Wise. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders.
There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
“Hours” by Diane Ranker Riesen - “Take me far away. Oh Lord…and let me talk with You - let me leave this world awhile, and get YOUR point of view. There’re just some days that grab my soul and make me want to flee…I know that I’ll get through these days if You spend time with me. Remind me, God, to close my eyes - remind me You are there. Let me feel Your presence through this journey…everywhere. I know I’ll always have You…and with this truth I cling - Although I falter often, Lord - You’ll help through ‘everything.’ And so, I close my eyes and pray - I sit alone with You…and wait on Your great wisdom…to know what I should do. Thank You, Father…for Your strength; Thank You for Your power - with Your mercy, grace and love - I’ll get through every hour.”
“There’s no storm that God won’t carry you through. No bridge that God won’t help you cross. No battle that God won’t help you through. No heartache that God can’t help you let go of. He is so much bigger than anything you will ever face. Leave everything in His hands. Embrace each day confidently, knowing that He will take care of you.” - unknown
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
