Good day to all from this little corner of the world. Can you believe we are halfway through the month of August?
Saturday was a beautiful day. The sun was out, and it was not so humid and hot. We mowed this BIG yard. Our birds are not visiting much because we need more food, but the hummers are loving their food. Sometimes, we just forget things. The forecast is calling for mostly sunny days with temperatures in the 80s and the possibility of rain Wednesday, Sunday and Monday. It may all change before this goes to print. I just know that I am enjoying lower temperatures and humidity
I am thankful for the man who invented the air conditioner. Did you know Willis Carrier invented it? He was an American engineer, best known for inventing the modern air conditioning unit in 1902. Wow, can you imagine way back then having this luxury? I bet only wealthy people had it, sort of like cars. Another thing I was wondering about was who invented the zero turn mower? Information on the internet says John Regier created The Hustler, the world’s first zero-turn mower. He introduced the model to Excel industries in 1964, and Roy Mullet, the company’s president at the time, began its production at the Hesston, Kan., plant. I thought these things were fairly new - ha! History lesson this week.
I would love to write more about the comings and goings in our community but do not get any feedback. Please send news to the email at the end of this article and let others know the news in our area. So many are getting older, and there are always changes in life. I do hope I see some articles of human interest sent. I could write about your farm animals, chickens, bunnies, furbabies, crops and how they are doing - many things if you think about it. We want to see YOUR life, too - not just mine and an occasional input from one person. I do hope you enjoy my thoughts. Remember that I was born a city girl, so many things interest me. What are you doing at home to get ready for fall? Do you decorate? Any favorite recipes? I would appreciate any input. Thanks.
