Norma Lea Robinson Chitwood, 83, of Jackson passed away on April 11, 2026.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at Shackelford Funeral Directors - Casey Chapel with burial to follow in Cave Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, and then from noon until 2 p.m. service time Thursday.
She was born on Jan. 28,1943 in the Montezuma Community of Chester County to the late MSgt Leroy and Ruth Roland Robinson. She was the oldest of three children, including brothers Joe and Richard Robinson. She attended grade school in Chester County and graduated from Frankfort American High School in 1961.
She married Joe Wayne Chitwood in 1962, and they had three children. She was a loving wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was an avid reader and traveler. She was known by all for her creative flair for repurposing vintage quilts into a variety of dolls that have been sold both nationwide and abroad. She has been featured in several magazines, recognizing her for her unique designs and talent. She was a retired Civil Servant. During this time, she developed an interest in golf and became an avid golfer and a member of the LPGA.
She was known far and wide in the Arts and Crafts world. She was often known by her nickname “Dixie.”  Her presence was unmistakable, and so was her kindness. She was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Sheila) Chitwood of Cumberland Furnace and David (Tammy) Chitwood of Jackson; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
