Ocidell Massengill, 91, of Henderson passed away Aug. 26, 2025, at Maplewood Healthcare in Jackson. A funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with burial at Sweetlips Cemetery.
She was born April 30, 1934, in Chester County, the daughter of the late Odus Montie and Liddie Etness Lee Massengill. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1953. That same fall she began working at Salant & Salant Mfg. and then Henderson Leisure Wear. She worked as a seamstress and quality control. She retired in 1992 to stay home and care for her mother. She attended Cave Springs Baptist Church.
She enjoyed gardening and yard work. She was a cat lover and always keep several.
She is survived by a sister, Shirley Ellington; sister-in-law, Minnie Sue Massengill; nieces, Phyllis Holder, Cindy (Ray) Sullins and Sharon (Martin) Hamm; nephews Jeff (Donna) Ellington and Tracy (Christy) Massengill; two great nieces; four great-nephews; and three great-great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James O. Massengill; one sister, Jonell Massengill; nephew-in-law, Jeff Holder; and a great-nephew, Chris Holder.
