Peggy Sue King Thompson, 90, of Jackson passed away July 26, 2026, at Maplewood Nursing Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue. Burial will follow at Chester County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday.
She was born May 19, 1936, in Jackson and raised in Bemis. She graduated from Bemis High School and attended West TN Business College.
She married Jerry C. Thompson in 1970. They made their home in Henderson and Jackson. She worked for Boyer, Johnson and Kimes Construction.
She was a member of the Malesus United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being around people, working and spending time with family and especially her grandchild. She loved to sing.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Thompson of Jackson; a son, Walter “Scott” (Michelle) Thompson of Selmer; one daughter, Mary Ann Thompson Jinright of Jackson; and a granddaughter, Ashley Ann Spain.
She was preceded in death by her parents and seven sisters, Dorothy MacDaniel, Vera Allen, Faye Taylor, Betty Taylor, Shirley Thomason, Melba Talley and Joyce Cupples.
