Postal increase causes subscription price rise

A recent increase in postal periodicals rates have impacted newspapers and magazines mailings across the country. This is the second increase of the year.
“While the Independent was able to absorb the first increase this second rate hike is forcing us to increase subscription prices,” said Scott Whaley, Independent publisher. “It has been several years since we raised subscription prices, but this latest postal increase will force the rate increase.”
To give our subscribers an opportunity to renew at the current rates the rate increase will not go into effect until September. This includes both renewals and new subscribers as well.
The current yearly rates are: $40 – Inside Chester County; $48 – Elsewhere in TN; $54 – Out of state. The senior citizen and military discount are $5 per subscription and senior and military discounts of $5 will continue. This offer is for yearly subscriptions only. This also includes a free online subscription that includes access to the E-Edition.
The new yearly rates, which go into effect Sept. 1, 2024, are: $45 – Inside Chester County; $53 – Elsewhere in TN; $59 – Out of state. The senior citizen and military discount are $5 per subscription and senior and military discounts of $5 will continue.
