Robert Bliss Walker Harris, 88, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Glenn Harris officiating. Burial followed at Lake Hill Memory Gardens. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from noon-2 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
He was born Oct. 17, 1937, in Finger, the son of the late Robert Bliss and Mary Opal Walker Harris. He graduated from Bethel Springs High School in 1957. He and his beloved wife Betty were grade school sweethearts. They married in April of 1956 and made their home in Selmer, later moving their family to Henderson in 1976.
He studied Criminal Justice at UT Martin and was a career Tennessee Highway Patrolman for over 30 years in West Tennessee. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially gardening, golfing, fishing and hunting, and loved his home on the Tennessee river.
He is survived by three sons, Phillip (Pamela) Harris of Summerville, S.C., John (Melinda) Harris of Jackson, and Jason (Jenny) Harris of Colleyville, Texas; his younger brother, Billy Frank (Shirley) Harris of Selmer; eight grandchildren, Holly (Nathan) Holladay, Alyssa (Steven) Toroni, Joshua (Emily) Harris, Will Harris, Rachel Harris, Hardin Harris, Powers Harris and Neyland Harris; and nine great-grandchildren, Beckham Toroni, Emerson Holladay, Grayson Holladay, Maximus Toroni, Savannah Toroni, Andrew Toroni, Millie Holladay, Penelope Harris and Daphne Harris.
