Mr. Ronald Ray Lumsden, 81, of Henderson passed away Friday, June 6, 2025, at the West TN State Veterans Home in Humboldt. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at Shackelford Funeral Directors - Casey Chapel in Henderson. The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Casey Chapel. Interment with Military Honors will be 1:30 p.m. on June 12 at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at TN State Veterans’ Home in Humboldt.
He was born in Decatur, Texas, March 9, 1944, son of the late Sam Reed and Leata Mae Smith Lumsden.
He joined the U.S. Navy after high school and served 20 years, retiring in 1983 as a Vietnam Veteran with the rank of ATC.
He then taught Electronics at the Naval Base in Millington and later worked for the USPS as Maintenance Technician retiring in 2000 then moved to Henderson.
He married Doris Privitt on May 25, 1965, and they shared 60 beautiful years together. He enjoyed reading and watching football and NASCAR. Later in life, he really enjoyed karaoke.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Lumsden; two sons, Eric (Teresa) Lumsden of Collierville and Brian (Haley) Lumsden of Adairsville, Ga.; a daughter, Lisa Bass of Bartlett; four sisters, Glenda Hammer of Dallas, Texas, Nelda Bradshaw of Seattle, Wash., Sammye (Robin) Ritter and Becky Whittle both of Tyler, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie (Shawn) Allred, Jacob (Carissa) Bass, Courtney (Kyle) Bass, Rachel (Nathan) Wiginton, Ynis Minor, Jessica (Danny) Daniels, Sydney and Landry Lumsden, Taylor Valentin and Ryker Minor; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Cory Steven Bass.
