Mrs. Sandra Kay Kelly, 84, of Henderson, passed away March 28, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson - East Main Chapel with burial in Old Friendship Cemetery in Finger. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to the Madison County Archives, 1981 Hollywood Drive 100, Jackson, TN 38305. Phone 731-660-6221.
She was born in Spearfish, S.D., on March 15, 1941, daughter of the late Herbert Oliver and Thelma Marie Burke Woodbury and grew up in Great Falls, Mont.
She was married to Edmon Kelly. They enjoyed 20 years of marriage together before his passing in December of 1998.
She was a registered nurse and worked for Jackson-Madison County General Hospital as a Critical Care Nurse in the Cardiac Care Unit for about 20 years before retiring.
She had a Library of Science degree prior to her nursing career, and after retirement, she volunteered at the Jackson-Madison County Library in the Tennessee Room, The Madison County Archives and The Hardeman County Archives. She also volunteered for the Chester County Meals on Wheels Program and at Gleaners.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, was a Master Gardener, loved quilting and was an avid reader.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Charles (Trish) Hadley of Greenville and Steven Wayne (CC) Hadley of Bolivar; a daughter, Robbyn (Jerry) Armstrong of Toone; one sister, Joni Hughes of El Cajon, Calif.; six grandchildren Austin Hadley, Whitney (Billy) Freeman, Dylan Armstrong, Madison Armstrong, Andrew (Frances) Hadley and Williams Hadley; and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Freeman and Hadley Freeman with another great-grandchild on the way.
