Additionally, Administrator of Schools Troy Kilzer II noted, the CCHS Volleyball team recently won the district tournament and are the Class AA District 12 Champions.
In regard to the agenda, a recommendation to the CCBOE to accept the TISA Accountability Report was approved unanimously. According to Kilzer, the report includes three district goals. The first of these, state mandated for all Tennessee school districts, is to have at least 70% or higher reading proficiency for all third graders. Kilzer said Chester County is on track for this goal though there remains room for growth. This point was later clarified to mean making progress toward that 70%. The second goal is building math and algebra readiness for all grade levels, with special emphasis in high school and sixth through eighth grade math; the third goal is to improve reading and writing across the district. Kilzer said these goals were addressed in a survey offered to the community in October.
A recommendation to approve the 2026-27 LEA Compliance Report was approved with none opposed.
A retired bus and two maintenance trucks were approved as “Surplus Property” in order to make available for auction.  Kilzer provided the Board with the following updates:
• A Grandparents program held at Jacks Creek Elementary successfully provided meals to attending adults. Kilzer recognized the efforts of Stephanie Lollar who commands the district’s food service program.
• A new practice field for the CCHS Marching Band is being prepared, likely to be in use next summer.
• District representatives attended a recent Chester County Budget Committee meeting. Kilzer said he will continue to encourage Commission to support the school system and consider the resources needed to continue providing for local students.
