The Silerton Baptist Church membership joyfully wished Pastor Charlie and Jeanie Crouthers a happy 21st wedding anniversary. They have both been essential to the Church’s well-being and mission and are much loved. Their guidance and example are all a church could ever hope for. We also humbly know, without a shadow of a doubt and with all the certitude that God allows, that after 21 years of marriage to Brother Charlie that there is a special place in heaven for Jeanie.
Silerton Baptist also wished a happy birthday to Tim James, a valued member of the Silerton Volunteer Fire Department. In speaking with Tim and fellow volunteer firefighter Ricky Wilson, there seems to have been an increase in brush fires in the past two years when compared to the past 10 years. The major culprits seem to be land owners who are not maintaining their land by cutting back excessive brush and the spurt of brush after clear-cutting an area for timber.
On Feb. 28 three of Silerton’s senior citizens took the day to relive days in their youth when they spent the days walking in the woods. Frankie, Larry and Leo Lambert spent the greater part of the day enjoying the memories of their younger days. After their long walk, they had a nice meal at Chickasaw Country Store & Cafe.
Chair yoga is going strong at Silerton Baptist at 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is free of charge, and all are welcome.
The Frys and Gail Mayfield attended the final classical performance of the Jackson Symphony’s 64th season. Silerton is fortunate to be close to a city that has a symphony orchestra that “punches well above its weight.”
