The Silerton City Council met on Tuesday, June 3, at the city park. For the safety and comfort of the children, it was decided to re-mulch the park playground with rubber mulch. An idea was floated to arrange for a band concert at the park sometime later in the year. Please contact any one of the council members if you have an opinion or would like more information. FEMA certification of the council members is progressing, and the council expects all members to be certified soon. City Mayor Willard Beshires was wished a happy birthday, and the council served up a birthday cake and ice cream. The Silerton City Council holds itself to the highest possible ethical standards and would like it known that no public funds were used for said cake and ice cream.
At Silerton Baptist Church, happy birthdays were sung to Judy Dillard and Pazley Curtis. Happy anniversaries were sung to Butch and Debby Ross and Bob and Carolyn Kramer. Debby Ross issued a call for volunteers for the upcoming Vacation Bible School. Jamie Fry is visiting her father in Amarillo, Texas. Please send prayers for Jamie’s father (Robert Scholl) and for Robert Fry’s continuing recovery.
On May 21, several participants from the Silerton Chair Yoga/Weight class attended the Second Annual Community Wellness Forum at the First Methodist Church in Henderson. The UT Extension Office of Chester County hosted more than 60 attendees for this event. Coordinated by Family and Consumer Sciences Agent Anna Nelson, the event featured a panel of eight local experts. The objective was to present a variety of ways on how the eight dimensions of wellness – spiritual, emotional, physical, financial, social, occupational, environmental and intellectual – can be integrated into our daily lives. The consensus from the Silerton attendees was that the event was a very informative and enjoyable learning experience.
The lilies are blooming spectacularly at the Fry’s. I count at least six different colors. Thanks again to Mary Lynn Lambert and Gail Mayfied for the gifting of so many plants. They added a lot of color to our place and made us feel even more welcome.
