Silerton Baptist Church had the pleasure of Brother Tommy Warner (Associational Missionary, Hardeman County Baptist Association) as guest pastor. Brother Warner gave an excellent common sense sermon on transitioning to a new pastor. He extolled the virtues of patience, unity of the membership and letting God lead the way during this process. Happy birthday was sung to Mary Lynn Lambert and Serenity Escamilla.
The Silerton Volunteer Fire Department held a meeting on Aug. 12. It was decided that a buffet/potluck is to be held on Oct. 18. Please bring a dish and contact Donna Waldrip for any information (731-658-7889). Besides the usual fundraising, it is hoped interest will be generated in the community for volunteers and for someone to step up to lead the Fire Department as its president. Also, a heads up for the Christmas bake sale to be held later this year. It was also decided to go back to the monthly schedule for meetings to be held the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the fire station. Please keep a lookout for the annual membership fee mailings.
Mary Lynn Lambert and Frankie celebrated her birthday at Paris Landing State Park in Paris. While there, they visited the replica of the Eiffel tower in Paris. Mary Lynn reports she enjoyed hearing Frankie’s experience in visiting the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, where he had a meal in the tower during his military service in 1967. Those that know Frankie want to know how many frogs and snails Frankie ate while serving our country. Paris, Ky., Paris, Texas, Paris, Ark., Paris, Maine, etc. await the Lamberts.
