Pastor Charlie was joyfully back at the pulpit this Sunday. He thanked everyone for their prayers, as his son Eddie continues his recovery. Happy birthdays were sung for Richard Crowley and Desmond Tidwell. Desmond received his best birthday present by having his grandmother, Guillermina, come all they way from Dixon, California, to celebrate his eighth birthday. Trish and Mike Alexander had Happy Anniversary sung to them and will be celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary on Aug. 27. Anita Pickett Lambert and William Barry Siler are also celebrating birthdays.
There will be much feasting and merriment this coming Labor Day weekend to ease the burdens of the Silerton farmers and those in the other sundry professions. On Aug. 30, the Frys will be having their family reunion, which has been held since the 1980s. Over the years, it has been held at Chickasaw State Park, the Silerton Volunteer Fire department and at the Deanburg Center. For the past several years, it has been held at the home of Vickie and Terry Gardner in Humbolt.
On Aug. 31, Silerton Baptist will be having their Fifth Sunday Church fellowship/potluck. Please feel free come enjoy some great fellowship and a delicious meal. Service starts at 11 a.m., and the meal is served directly afterwards at noon. Also, on Aug. 31, the Lamberts will be having their family reunion in Silerton at 12:30 p.m.
