The Silerton City Council held a meeting on March 24. It was announced that, instead of the previously mentioned weather radios, a severe weather siren will be installed in Silerton. Speed bumps to replace those that were damaged during the past winter ice storm will be ordered and installed. To celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday, a US flag was proposed for the park’s gazebo. April 11 at 10 a.m. was confirmed as the town clean-up day. April 18 will be the bad weather make-up day. Please consider contributing your time and effort and bring whatever trash pick-up tools you prefer.
Palm Sunday was celebrated at Silerton Baptist Church. A big thank you to all who helped clean the church last weekend. A happy birthday was sung to Kevin Tidwell. After the service, a fine “Fifth Sunday” fellowship meal was had with both healthy attendance and appetites. Thank you to all who prepared the food and who helped to clean up afterwards. A reminder that there will be a Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. April 3.
Last week, Wanda Cook was one of 42 seniors who took a bus trip to visit the Ark Encounter park in Williamstown, Ky. They also visited the Creation Museum, and a river cruise was had on the River Queen riverboat which plied the Ohio River. Another highlight was eating at a German restaurant.
Jamie Fry visited her father in Amarillo, Texas. On the way there, she stopped in Oklahoma, met with her two children, three nieces, a great-niece and a great-nephew and all continued on to visit their grandfather Bob Scholl.
Election season is well underway, and the campaign signs are sprouting up as are the buttercups. Both benefit from their own respective types of fertilizer. Please consider informing yourself, registering and voting.
