On the morning of April 12, one might have seen some of our stalwart Silertonians beautifying our fair village by volunteering their labor and time on trash pick-up day. Many thanks to the dedicated few who participated: Willard and Linda Beshires, Richard and Rita Crowley, Frankie and Mary Lynn Lambert, Gail Mayfield and Carlos Schmidt. Apologies if anyone’s name was left out.
After this past Sunday’s service at Silerton Baptist, a housewarming party was held for Jennifer and Jason Howell. Finger foods were served, and presents were opened. A reminder that Decoration/Homecoming Day is approaching on Sunday, May 3.
There is an April flurry of birthdays for the extended Stack family: Gilbert Lee is having his on the 22nd, nephew David on the 12th, granddaughter Jessica on the 16th, granddaughter Jacie on the 17th and grandson Ricky on the 22nd.
On the goat front: Imprisonment. In preparation for spring turkey season starting on April 11, Joe Stack has had to pen the goats up. An abundance of caution due to those hunters who do not know the difference between a goat and a turkey and for those hunters who do not ID their target and shoot at any sign of movement. You know who you are. Best to pen the goats up, as it was too prohibitively expensive, not to mention difficult, to put orange safety vests on each goat. The goats are not at all happy about this new situation. Every time someone goes by, they vociferously start bleating, “Leeeet meeee ouuuut.” At least that is what Joe Stack says they are saying, as Joe is fluent in Goat and its various dialects (Angoran, Himalayan, Nubian, etc. and even some Pygmy). Joe also knows a little bit of Cow and Donkey, well enough to order at a restaurant, etc.
