Silerton Baptist Church had a rare double singing for Carolyn and Bob Kramer. The congregation sang happy birthday to Bob and then stood again to sing happy anniversary to the couple. Though they did not volunteer the news, Rita and Richard Crowley’s 60th anniversary was found out, and they were given a proper anniversary singing also. The “Pounding” for Rachel and Logan Vann went very nicely, and the couple was very appreciative and thankful for all the thoughtful gifts. Many thanks to those who organized the event and prepared the sandwiches, cake and snacks.
Condolences to Frank Herndon and his family on the passing of his mother Lois C. Herndon of Silerton who passed away on Thursday, June 11, at the age of 93.
A sizeable Silerton contingent met up at the Finger Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry fundraiser this past Saturday. It is somewhat striking how Silertonians can mysteriously communicate with each other without any direct contact, almost like a telepathy of some sort, and end up finding themselves at the same location or event. This must be true for many that come from a small town. It is the “hive” mind at work. The “hive” mind is not possible in the bigger cities where there are too many distractions and too much noise. The “hive” mind is a delicate thing that needs careful tending. If you are from a small town and find yourself not part of the “hive” mind, please have your antennae examined on your next doctor’s appointment.
