Last fall, talk began in Silerton about having a Centennial Celebration in 2023. A committee was formed, and the meeting started. The committee has worked diligently to formalize their ideas. On Saturday, Oct. 7, the Centennial will start at 10 a.m. in the Silerton Baptist Church Sanctuary. Hope to see you.
We are expecting visitors from California, Washington, Missouri, Florida, Alabama, Ohio, and Mississippi. Try to come in time to get a name tag and sign our registration book. If you have ordered a book, cap or t-shirt this would be the best time to pick up. Food vender will open at 11:30 a.m. A display of memorabilia will open in the fellowship hall and the city hall. Music will start around 1:30 p.m. by a band forming from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs.
At 2:30 p.m. Silerton is once again hosting a cake walk. Cakewalks were always a big fund raiser for the Silerton school during their fall festival. Can anyone remember the price of walking in the cakewalk in those days? Around 4 p.m. displays will close. Be sure to pick up any memorabilia you presented.
It is our hope you enjoy your day reconnecting with family and friends and making new acquaintances.
Recently, Judy Dillard and Bindie King traveled to Augusta, Ga., to visit Judy’s grandson, Matthew and his wife. They all traveled to Jacksonville, Fla., to visit great grandchildren. Judy said it was a great trip.
