Many thanks to the election volunteers at the Silerton Volunteer Fire Department on Election Day, who, as always, make the voting process easy and quick.
The Silerton City Council has begun the process of getting Silerton’s Christmas lights ready. The lights have been pulled out of storage and have been tested. The lights will soon be laid out in preparation for Bolivar Electric Authority to mount them. The community always looks forward to their display at night.
Piney Grove Baptist Church celebrated its annual BBQ Fall event on Oct. 31. Much good fellowship and food was had. Brent Dickson, visiting from Hatchie Baptist Church in Hornsby, gave the sermon and blessing. The rain thankfully held off so all could enjoy the meal and the hayride afterward.
A reminder that Christmas missionary shoeboxes will be assembled at Silerton Baptist Church at 6 p.m. Nov. 18. This past Sunday, the membership sang happy birthday to Heather Harris.
Another reminder that Dec. 4 is the cut-off date for ordering items (cakes, cookies, pies, etc.) from the Silerton Volunteer Fire Department annual Christmas fundraising bake sale to be held on Dec. 18-19. Please contact Donna Waldrip before Dec. 4 at 731-658-7889 to place your orders.
On the goat, etc. front: Mean horses. The livestock Marcus Fry has been tending have yet again become acclimated to him. The goats, cat, dog and lone chicken now come running up to him with great joy and jubilation. The hen was so excited it could not help itself and ran into Marcus. The horses though are more single minded; they just want the feed, and why are you taking so long? Once the feed is laid out, they show their meanness by not letting the lone donkey eat in peace. Marcus made sure the poor fellow got his share.
