The Lady Lions of Freed-Hardeman University grabbed two wins over the Phoenix of Cumberland University first in a 5-4 walk off win in the first game before run-ruling the Phoenix 12-4.
Freed-Hardeman (8-10, 3-4 MSC) fell behind to the Phoenix early after a three-run first inning. Showing their grit the Lady Lions shut down UC’s offense the rest of the game with Chloe Carter’s double plating a run to put the Lady Lions on the scoreboard.
After scoring two in the fifth and one in the sixth, Brinley Cousar’s leadoff single put FHU’s tying run into scoring position before the Phoenix (11-14, 2-2 MSC) walked Myleah Hardy to put the winning run on. Two quick outs looked to put out the fire, but a hit batsman loaded the bases for Karli Quillin who calmly landed a single to right to drive home the tying and winning runs.
The Lady Lions tallied 10 base hits, led by Chloe Carter, Brooklyn Jimmerson and Karli Quillin all tallying two.
