Someone asked another person what the one thing they thought everyone in the world wanted for their life was. They answered, “To be loved.” I think this is so true. We come into this world as infants very dependent upon our parents. We are dependent for nurture and that one universal desire and need, to be loved. If our parents are mature, they do just that. They nurture and love we who are so dependent upon them for everything we need. I was reminded of truths we all should remember by the author of a terrific book, “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People,” by Stephen R. Covey. We begin life as a dependent. Hopefully, we grow and mature to be independent as is our parents duty to train us in preparation for living as an individual out in the world, honest responsible, kind, caring and compassionate. We are not supposed to stop there in our growth as an individual. As we keep growing on to full maturity, we should blossom to be interdependent. This should be the natural progression of every person to develop beyond the “I” of independence where our primary focus is on us as an individual to the “we.” The world is more than “I” of self, and we need to mature to the level of the ‘we’ mindset. Whether in business, social and or personal, we are not to remain an island to ourselves. People who then choose to marry ideally learn this very valuable lesson if the union grows and strengthens through the work and effort the husband and wife both provide. This is the beauty we see two who think and behave so closely as one.
Sadly, in the passage of time, there is a separation that takes place through death. One has to learn to live without the other and this is a huge adjustment and learning experience. Being interdependent continues as a natural progress of life. If we can be a part of your progress in your journey, please come connect with us. This is Sunrise Aftercare.
