Hello to all from this little corner of the world. Well, the topic of the week is the heat. It is HOT! It was 85 degrees with a heat index of 95 at 6:35 p.m. Saturday. There was a heat advisory through Wednesday morning. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat related illnesses. I hope everyone takes this heat seriously. If you get very hot or light-headed and stop sweating, seek shade or go inside and drink plenty of cool water. I love ice water, but it is best to sip it instead of chug it. Gatorade or Powerade also helps with electrolytes. Heat exhaustion symptoms include heavy sweating, dizziness and nausea. Please consider the furbabies outside. If they can come in, please do so. If they are outside, they need shade and cool water. A frozen milk jug placed in their water bowl should help a lot. You can use a half gallon if they have a smaller bowl.
Saturday will be Independence Day. We will observe 250 years of Independence from Great Britain. There have been celebrations already. “Freedom Lost” – “Are the days of freedom over/Are the days of freedom dead/Will the people let it happen/Without a single word said/What will it take to stir them/From their sedentary ways/Must they station troops in our homes/Or just take them all away/Freedom has a price/For which we must forever pay/I’d rather lose it dying/Than see it chipped away.” – Monashe Ndlovu
There was very good attendance at the 250th Celebration. Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Future. 250 years is something to be proud and thankful for. It can disappear in a heartbeat. We must stand against evil in all forms. Pray for God’s protection of this country.
In honor of the Semiquincentennial, the United States Mint will release a limited-edition batch of 250,000 quarters featuring a special “July 4th” privy mark. The quarters will be placed randomly into circulation ahead of Independence Day (www.usmint.gov).
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones. There have been several deaths I know of just this week, and prayers are with you all. It is never easy to say goodbye or let go of someone you love. Some things that help are prayers, time to grieve, patience with yourself and maybe others and the Faith that God is in control and that you are Never alone.
