Wayne Sexton passed away July 23, 2026, at his daughter’s home in Atoka.
Chapel services were at noon Thursday, July 30, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar with burial in Indian Creek Cemetery in Covington. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
He was born July 2, 1941, in Tiplersville, Miss. Before settling in Henderson, he made Memphis his home. He spent over two decades working as a mechanic with the Hershey Candy Company in Memphis. He was a Baptist in faith. He found joy and companionship at the Chester County Senior Center. Family and friends fondly recall his love for Memphis Wrestling, his restless spirit for travel and his ever-present enthusiasm for spending time with loved ones.
He is survived by his daughters, Christina (Michael) Gann and Michelle Goodwin; son, Gary Burlinson; brother, Ricky Sexton; sister, Marie; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great, great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bobbi Stowall, R.L. Sexton, Charline Beach, Kyle “Blackie” Sexton, Billy Joe Brown and Lucie Mason; father, Charlie Powell Sexton; mother, Lee O. Leopard Sexton; sons, Freddie Sexton and Bill Manley; and the mother of his children, Hazel Cox Sexton.
