126th Annual Finger Barbeque and Picnic Sept. 17
The 126th Annual Finger Barbeque and Picnic will be Saturday, Sept. 17. There will be party jumpers for the kids, good food and live music for the family. Whole hog barbeque and chicken will be available with homemade ice cream and baked goods. Parade starts at 10 a.m. All proceeds go to the Finger Vol. Fire Dept. Meeting Sept. 19
The next open meeting of the Chester County Republican Party (CCRP) is scheduled for Monday, September 19, 2022 beginning promptly at 6:30 PM in the Council chambers at City Hall on 121 Crook Avenue in Henderson. All bonafide Republicans are invited to arrive early to mingle and listen to some stirring patriotic music. After the (brief) business meeting, there will be discussion on the four constitutional amendments that will be on the ballot this November. Chester County Retired Teachers will meet at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Snookum’s Restaurant. The sponsor will be First Bank. The service project will be donations to North Chester School. Mike Smith, director of Southwest Human Resource Agency, will be the guest speaker. Please make plans to attend and invite any retired teacher, teacher assistant, administrator, staff personnel, or bus driver as a guest.
BBQ Festival Pig Trot Sept. 24
The Chester County BBQ Festival Pig Trot 5k/1 mile sponsored by FirstBank will be Saturday, Sept. 24, at No Xcuse Fitness, 123 Front ST, Henderson. Registration starts at 7:15 a.m., and the race begins at 8 a.m. Pre-registration entry fees are $25 for the 5k and $20 for the 1 Mile by Sept. 4. After Sept. 4 add $5. T-Shirt is included with pre-registration. Register on RaceRoster.com or obtain a registration form at FirstBank (main branch) or No Xcuse Fitness.

The Freed-Hardeman University Associates will be holding their Fall Rummage Sale Oct. 12-15 at the National Guard Armory, 759 E. Main St., Henderson. Times for the sale are as follows: 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, and Thursday, Oct. 13 (all items full price); 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 (all items half price); 7:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 15 (bag day - fill a 13 gallon bag for $5 or a 30 gallon bag for $10)
