Angel Tree Applications
now-Nov. 30
Applications for the Henderson Church of God Angel Tree Program are now available. They can be picked up at the Southwest Community Service Center or the Chester County Library during their hours. All applications must be turned in by Nov. 30, 2023 with all paperwork. You must have birth certificates, social security cards, proof of income, driver’s license, and a recent utility bill. A copy of al requested paper work has to be included with your application or it will not be accepted. For Chester County residents only. For more information contact Sheila Taylor at 608-8934.
CC Democratic Party
Meeting Oct. 26
The Chester County Democratic Party monthly meeting is scheduled for at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26. The meeting will take place up stars in the classroom at the Henderson City Hall, 121 Crook Ave, Henderson. Members will discuss the party’s agenda and events for 2024 election. This meeting will be open for all attendees to express their ideas and thoughts about the future. For more information, contact Chair person, Gloria Holiday 731-608-6132.
Jacks Creek Volunteer Annual Stew Sale Oct. 28
Jacks Creek Volunteer Fire Station, St. Rt. 100 E at Hwy. 22A, will hold their annual stew sale fundraiser from 10 a.m. until sold out Saturday, Oct. 28. Cost is $22/gallon. Please bring your own container.
Maggie’s Trunk or Treat
Oct. 28
On Saturday, Oct. 28, from 3-6 p.m., Maggie’s will sponsor a TRUNK or TREAT; the public is invited to come and open your trunks or a table for all the trick or treaters to fill their pumpkins with candy. During this time, they will have Bar-B-Que, baked beans and slaw that you can purchase by the sandwich, plate or by the pound. They will also have chili, hotdogs/chili dogs and chips on the menu. You may go inside and sit down to eat or get it to go! Everyone, bring your kiddos trick or treating in downtown Enville!
Glendale Community Halloween Party Oct. 28
The Glendale Community Center will celebrate its Halloween Party at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. They will serve chili, hot dogs, and homemade desserts. There will be a costume contest, fish pond, games, and a cake walk. Fun for all ages!
Pinson Ruritan
Stew Sale Oct. 28
Pinson Ruritan will have their bi-annual stew Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Ruritan Building. Stew will be ready at 7:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 10 a.m. Cost will be $25/gallon. To reserve, call Becky Willis at 731-988-5240.
FHU Fall Rummage
Sale Nov. 1-4
The Freed-Hardeman University Associates will be holding their Fall Rummage Sale, Nov. 1-4, at the National Guard Armory, 759 E. Main St. Times are as follows: 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, and Thursday, Nov. 2, (all items full price); 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, (all items half price); 7:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 4, (fill a 13-gallon bag for $5 or a 30 gallon bag for $10). This project by the FHU Associates encourages friendships, spreads joy and provides funds for student scholarships.
CC Historical Society
Meeting Nov. 6
The CC Historical Society will meet Monday, Nov 6, at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center. The night’s speaker will be John Talbot.  He will speak on the History and genealogy of McNairy Co. All are welcome.
Seventh Annual Black History Program Feb. 17, 2024
The Seventh Annual Black History Program will be from 2-4 p.m. Feb 17, 2024 at 247 E Main St. in Henderson. We are inviting volunteers to share their talent with our community. Chester County students are invited to create foldable poster boards about our theme, “African Americans and The Arts.” The poster boards will be displayed at different locations in Henderson for the month of February. Deadline for submitting a poster is Jan 26, 2024. This will be a free event that the entire family can enjoy.
