WRAP seeks support from local communities in the acknowledgment of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

Posted

February is designated in the United States as the National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month (TDVAM). This is an issue that impacts everyone – not just teens – but their parents, teachers, friends and communities as well.
Together, we can raise the nation’s awareness about teen dating violence and promote safe, healthy relationships. Teen Dating Violence affects nearly 10 percent of all teenagers throughout the United States. Each year in the U.S., nearly 1.5 million high school students fall victim to abuse from a Dating Partner.
WRAP provides support to those impacted by teen dating violence across 19 counties in West Tennessee, offering a wide array of trauma-informed and evidence-based services that are free and confidential. Adolescents in abusive relationships often carry unhealthy relationship patterns into adulthood, which impacts their ability to maintain healthy relationships throughout their lives.
During the month of February, Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, WRAP aims to aid in breaking the cycle of violence by providing supportive services to victims, their families, and their communities. Everyone has the ability to positively impact the young people around them in the simplest of ways.
If you or someone that you know have been impacted by teen dating violence or would like to learn ways that you could assist WRAP in spreading awareness, please feel free to contact our office 731-668-0411.
WRAP also has a 24/7 hotline service for victims and survivors of Domestic or Sexual Violence 1-800-273-8712.
