Three Chester County 4-H members went to the 77th Annual TN State 4-H Congress March 10-13. This opportunity is only given to ninth and 10th grade students that will represent our county in the best way possible. The purpose of this conference is to recognize outstanding 4-H’ers and leaders from all Tennessee counties, to provide new opportunities for 4-H’ers and leaders to develop a better understanding of citizenship and see how it relates to daily living, to offer new and stimulating leadership experiences for 4-H’ers and leaders on a statewide basis, to provide the opportunity for 4-H’ers and leaders to learn how their state government functions, to encourage 4-H’ers and leaders to assume and continue leadership roles in their communities, and to provide opportunities for 4-H’ers to develop a greater appreciation of the history and heritage of Tennessee. We would like thank the Chester County Farm Bureau for sponsoring these 4-H’ers to attend Congress.
“Life gives you a few opportunities when you are young to do something memorable, this is one of them,” said Clayton Anderson, 10th grade Congress Delegate. “I went to the 2024 TN State 4-H Congress in Nashville, Tennessee. Not knowing what I was getting into was exciting as I had never been before. It was a great learning experience from learning how the House of Representatives session is conducted in the chamber, sitting in the same seats as our state representatives, and getting to see the senate chamber as well. We all got the opportunity to meet Senator Paige Wally and Representative Kirk Haston. We did so much more like going to the Nashville zoo, walking around Nashville, met so many new people, and even learned how to properly vote. Lastly, a special thanks to Farm Bureau for paying the way for me and others to go this year.”
Malachi Hollamon, 10th grade Congress Delegate, agreed by saying, “If given the opportunity to go, you should take it.”
